Read this before you marry.

After reading a post by one of our Admin about a guy who is in a fix right now not knowing what to do concerning a lady he has been planning to marry, I can’t but wonder why people will not listen to instructions. When i hear young people say ‘No one will tell me who to marry it is my life’ immediately I see someone who is about to make a terrible mistake in his/her married life. I don’t really mean that people should tell you who to marry NO; the point is that, when many people are in these their so called LOVE, their sense of reasoning disappears, their brains stop thinking, their ears stop hearing, and they go completely mute. So when the parents, brothers/sister, close friend/relatives tell them, this man/woman is not good for you, their sense of reasoning is already beclouded by infatuation, they would not listen. Probably because they have tested some stuff and thought they can’t live with it. This is one of the dangers of getting emotionally attached to someone before making a marriage decision. Why dint you tell your parents and siblings to leave you alone to grow up on your own since you are superman/woman? Why dint you take care of yourself from childhood since it is your life? Why turn deaf ear to advice and instructions? Why is it that it is only you that is right in this matter and every other person is wrong? Why why why??????? The Igbos have a proverb it says ‘ the fly that refuses to listen to instruction will follow the dead body into the grave’. I know some parents and relatives can refuse your choice of a life partner based on their selfish interests, cases like that are in the minority though, but I strongly believe that one should listen to the Elders. Listen to the voice of reasoning, if MOST people related to you are not in support of this your choice, PLEASE reconsider your stand. What the elder sees seating down the young person may not see it even if he/she climbs the iroko tree.
